Happy birthday, America! Fourth of July festivities make this week in the birthplace of the nation a truly epic one.

The city’s Wawa Welcome America festival continues, with nearly 40 free, fun events for visitors and residents to enjoy in the days leading up to and on the Fourth. On the docket: patriotic concerts, free museum days, outdoor movie screenings, the annual Wawa Hoagie Day and more!

The birthday celebrations culminate on Independence Day with the massive Party on the Parkway street festival on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, followed by a huge concert headlined by Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor and spectacular fireworks show above the Philadelphia Museum of Art — all free and open to the public!

And the Fourth of July fun extends well beyond the city limits as well. Peddler’s Village hosts an afternoon-long all-American picnic, Longwood Gardens presents a special Fireworks & Fountains program set to patriotic tunes and nearly 20 different fireworks shows light up the skies throughout the week in towns like Conshohocken, Phoenixville and Doylestown.

Also coming up: the next pop-up summer beer garden at the Mütter Museum, the two-day Hispanic Fiesta at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing and many special events for First Friday.
